Patients initiate class action against healthcare system based upon alleged failure to follow provisions of Washington State Charity Care Act. (CourtListener.com)
On April 30, 2018, Memorial Hermann Hospital System of Houston, Texas initiated an action against CMS alleging that CMS, acting through the Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC), incorrectly calculated a Medicare overpayment contrary to an agreement reached between the Hospital and the MAC. The hospital alleges that the MAC charged interest expense prior to issuance of a revised notice of program reimbursement (NPR) in contravention of the agreement between the parties.

Walmart announced new measures for its pharmacies yesterday to help combat the opioid crisis. New policies include distributing no more than 7 days of an opioid prescription at a time, requiring e-prescriptions for controlled substances, and encouraging pharmacists to provide naxolone recommendations where appropriate.
